According to a recent study conducted by Common Sense Media, about half of teenagers admit to feeling addicted to their mobile phones.

Further research revealed that children between the ages of 8 and 12 spend an average of five and a half hours per day in front of their cell phones.

These findings highlight the prevalence of digital media addiction among children and emphasize the need to tackle this worrying trend.

The reason is, Psychologist and Mental Health Activist Dr. Arvind Otta said that children must limit their screen time so that it does not have a negative impact.

“Children aged six and over should limit their screen time to no more than two hours per day.”

“Exceeding this limit can harm the child’s development in various aspects,” he said, quoted from the Hindustan Times.

According to him, digital devices attract children’s attention because these devices release dopamine.

Therefore, Dr. Arvind Otta asked parents to be aware of the consequences of excessive screen time.
